Environmental and Occupational Health Engineer at Tärnsjö Garveri
Tärnsjö Garveri is a historic company located in northwestern Uppland. We combine traditional, vegetable tanning with solid craftsmanship and the production of high-quality leather products. We are now looking for an environmental and occupational health engineer for our factory in Tärnsjö – a person who shares our passion for craftsmanship and quality.
Role Description
As an environmental and occupational health engineer, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating the company's work in environmental and occupational health matters. The role involves ensuring that the operations comply with relevant legislation and internal guidelines, as well as driving a systematic and preventive approach to occupational health. You will work both strategically and operationally – from structure and action plans to follow-up, measurements, and improvement efforts. You will become an important partner in the organization and contribute to a safe, sustainable, and efficient workplace.
The position is 100% on-site in Tärnsjö and you will report to the CEO.
Examples of Responsibilities
- Drive SAM, self-inspections, and establish action plans.
- Convene and participate in the safety committee (at least 2 times/year) and occupational health forum as needed.
- Conduct occupational health rounds, risk assessments, and follow-ups.
- Coordinate work adaptations and rehabilitation efforts.
- Manage incidents/accidents: reporting, investigation, and follow-up actions.
- Work with chemical management (registers, risk assessments) and protective equipment in production.
- Act as a contact person for authorities and environmental/occupational health-related issues.
- Drive improvement projects that enhance occupational health and environmental performance.
Necessary Qualifications
- Engineering degree with a focus on environment, occupational health, safety, and health.
- Knowledge of environmental and occupational health legislation as well as relevant standards.
- Ability to analyze technical and organizational risks.
- Pedagogical skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience as an occupational health engineer.
